Holly Alderton
Holly Alderton is a dedicated criminal defence barrister known for her practical, highly accessible approach to litigation. She accepts both private and legal aid instructions (PAL 1-2) across all District and High Court matters, specialising in discharge without conviction applications, drink driving procedures, and diversion negotiations.
Holly’s practice is defined by her ability to demystify the legal process for her clients. Following her admission to the Bar in 2017, she built a strong foundation in courtroom advocacy at the Public Defence Service (2019–2022), managing a high-volume practice that gave her invaluable insight into the mechanics of the criminal justice system. She moved into private practice in 2022.
Before entering criminal law, Holly spent 27 years in a demanding, client-facing career with Air New Zealand, while also practicing employment law with the Flight Attendants Association (2000–2006). This diverse, high-pressure background informs her exceptional communication skills and her ability to remain composed and strategic in challenging circumstances.
